Dominick Peter Contaldi was born May 5, 1921 in Deacon Falls, Connecticut. He registered for the draft on February 16, 1942. According to his draft record, he was 5' 8" tall, weighed 156 pounds, with brown eyes, brown hair, a dark complexion, and scars above and below his right eye. He was inducted into the Army on August 21, 1942 and served in the Third Platoon, Company A as an Automatic Rifleman. He landed on Omaha Beach in Normandy on July 5, 1944 and was Killed in Action near Torigni Sur Vire south of St Lo, France on August 1, 1944. He is buried at Saint James Cemetery, Naugatuck, Connecticut.
