James J DiLorenzo

Pvt. James J DiLorenzo was killed in action July 17, 1944.  He had originally been reported as missing in the fighting near St Lo, France.  His stepbrother, Pvt. Nick A. DiLorenzo, was also killed in action during July 1944. The unit in which Nick served is unknown.

 

James' father, John Carungi, was struck and killed by a train when he was very young. A widower, Anthony DiLorenzo, married the widow Ann Vepe Carungi and her 2 sons took the DiLorenzo name.  Nick was the third child of Anthony DiLorenzo's first marriage.

Both Brothers Are buried at Saint Vitus Cemetery, New Castle, Pennsylvania.
