Bryce Eldon Hanna, son of Jesse Jenkins and Luva Lovia (Surface) Hanna, was born in 1918 in York, Nebraska. Some birth records show his birthdate as January 1, 1918 and others show May 28, 1918. He married Betty Lucille Page in 1942. He joined the Nebraska National Guard and was mobilized for Federal service on December 23, 1940. He was a member of Headquarters Platoon, Service Company, 134th Infantry Regiment and landed at Omaha Beach, Normandy France July 6, 1944. His military occupation specialty (MOS) was changed from Ammunition NCO to Quartermaster Supply Technician on August 17, 1944. Sgt Bryce E Hanna and three other soldiers were salvaging equipment in the vicinity of Bellange, France on November 16, 1944. While attempting to retrieve this equipment, one of them set off a German landmine, killing Sgt Hanna and 2 other soldiers and wounding another. Sgt Bryce E Hanna is buried at Lorraine American Cemetery, Saint Avold, France.
