134th Infantry Regiment - Company A

James Burton Harrison, son of William and Maude May (Moore) Harrison, was born in Carrier Mills, Illinois on June 25, 1923. He married Mildred Marie Pirkey on June 4, 1942. The couple had one daughter, Carolyn Sue. He was inducted into the Army on February 16, 1943 at Camp Grant, Illinois and served in Company A, 134th Infantry Regiment.

He landed on Omaha Beach, Normandy, France on July 5, 1944. He was wounded in action near St Lo on July 28, returned to duty August 31, and was promoted from Private First Class to Staff Sergeant on September 28, 1944. S/Sgt James B Harrison was Killed in Action on October 1, 1944 while fighting in the Foret de Gremecey, northwest of Nancy, France. He is buried at Bethel Memorial Cemetery, Mount Vernon, Illinois.
