Darold Alva Hurst, son of Alva Thompson and Ada Bell (Stoner) Hurst, was born September 16, 1913 in Inman, Nebraska. He married Agnes A Steidley on June 5, 1940 and the couple had one daughter, Ruth Ann. He registered for the draft on October 16, 1940. His draft record lists him as 6' tall, weighing 170 pounds, with grey eyes, black hair, and a dark complexion. He was inducted into the Army on March 22, 1944 at Fort Lewis, Washington. Pvt Harold A Durst served as a Rifleman in Company B, 134th Infantry Regiment. He was Killed in Action north of Nancy, France on November 26, 1944. He is buried at Lorraine American Cemetery, Saint-Avold, France.
