Joseph Paul Iaia, son of Antonio and Annetta (Palazzi) Iaia, was born April 5, 1915 in Altoona, Pennsylvania. He registered for the draft October 16, 1940. At the time he was working at the Pennsylvania Railroad Company. He enlisted in the Army March 10, 1942 at Fort George Meade, Maryland and joined Company K, 134th Infantry Regiment as a Messenger from the 48th Replacement Battalion August 10, 1944. Pfc Joseph P Iaia was killed in action September 20, 1944 at Agincourt, France. He is buried at Calvary Cemetery, Altoona, Pennsylvania.

He is memorialized on the 35th Infantry Division Memorial at Agincourt, France
