Olin Miles Jackson, son of Lemon Handley and Ellen Dewright (Owen) Jackson, was born October 16, 1923 in Sampson County, North Carolina. He married Lillian Barefoot in March 1942 and the couple had a daughter, Mary Elizabeth. He registered for the draft June 30, 1942. At the time, he was working at Erwin Cotton Mills in Erwin, North Carolina. He was inducted into the Army December 3, 1943 at Fort Bragg, North Carolina and joined the Third Platoon, Company L, 134th Infantry Regiment as a Rifleman from the 71st Reinforcement Battalion October 4, 1944 when the unit was in the vicinity of Malacourt, France. Pvt Olin M Jackson was killed by small arms fire while attacking enemy positions November 18, 1944 in the vicinity of Morhange, France. He is buried at Roberts Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Sampson County, North Carolina.
