134th Infantry Regiment - Company F

John Fransis Jaksa, son of John and Amelia (Katarincic) Jaksa, was born December 30, 1914 in Ironwood, Michigan. He married Asenath Mary Rowley on July 22, 1939 in Flint. He registered for the draft October 16, 1940 while he was working at the Fisher Body Plant in Flint and was inducted into the Army July 6, 1943. He joined Company F, 134th Infantry Regiment September 23, 1944 as a Rifleman from the 38th Replacement Battalion when the unit was north of Nancy, France. Pvt John F Jaksa was seriously wounded by artillery shell fragments on November 15 in the vicinity of Morhange, France and died of his wounds 3 days later on November 18, 1944. He is buried at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Flint, Michigan.
