134th Infantry Regiment - Company K

Ellis Eugene James, son of Bert Lester and Thelma Inez (Moore) James was born June 3, 1923 in Paris, Missouri. He married Faye Louise Vangher on March 2, 1944. He registered for the draft June 30, 1942 and was inducted into the Army July 21, 1944 at Jefferson Barracks, Missouri. He joined Company K, 134th Infantry Regiment as a Rifleman from the 38th Replacement Battalion January 17, 1945 when the unit was in Remichampagne, Belgium, about 6 miles southwest of Bastogne. Pfc Ellis E James was wounded in action March 26, 1945 near Dinslaken, Germany and died of his wounds that same day. He is buried at Netherlands American Cemetery, Margraten, Netherlands.
