134th Infantry Regiment - Company H

James Henry Jones registered for the draft July 1, 1941 and was inducted into the Army June 23, 1944 at Camp Dodge, Iowa. He took his basic training at Fort McClellan, Alabama and after training he departed the U.S. for the ETO on December 22, 1944. He joined Company H, 134th Infantry Regiment on January 8, 1945 from the 48th Replacement Battalion at Sainlez, Belgium during the Battle of the Bulge. He was a Heavy Machine Gunner in the 2nd Platoon and was promoted to Sergeant, Squad Leader, 2nd Machine Gun Squad on January 14, 1945. He returned to the U.S. aboard the Queen Mary, departing from Southampton, England on September 5 and arriving in the Port of New York on September 10, 1945. He was separated from the Army November 10, 1945.
