Raymond Karpin, son of Alexander (Alexsa) and Sophie (Woroniak) Karpin, was born August 14, 1914 in Trainer, Pennsylvania. He married Eva May Miles in Elkton, Maryland April 18, 1936 and the couple had 3 children, Raymond, Catherine and Mary. He registered for the draft October 16, 1940. At the time he was working for the Works Progress Administration (WPA) in Reading, Pennsylvania. He was inducted into the Army January 14, 1944 at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, arrived in the ETO in September 1944, and joined Company F, 134th Infantry Regiment as a Rifleman from the 38th Replacement Battalion September 13, 1944 when the unit was in the vicinity of Germiny, France along the west bank of the Moselle River. Pvt Raymond Karpin was killed in action by shrapnel on September 22, 1944 in the vicinity of Lay Saint Christophe, France. He is buried at Lawn Croft Cemetery, Linwood, Pennsylvania.
