John Kelsch, Jr was born November 26, 1919 in Strasburg, North Dakota. He registered for the draft July 1, 1941. At the time he was living in McLaughlin, South Dakota. He entered service April 14, 1942. He served in the Weapons Platoon, Company L, 134th Infantry Regiment and landed at Omaha Beach, Normandy France July 6, 1944. He was promoted to Sergeant, Squad Leader July 20, 1944. Sgt John Kelsch, Jr was killed in action August 3, 1944 in the vicinity of Vire, France. He is buried at Normandy American Cemetery, Colleville-sur-Mer, France.
