Joseph John Kovach, son of Frank Joseph and Anna (Decker) Kovach, was born February 25, 1919 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He moved to Florida sometime between 1920 and 1930. He married Marguerite Christopher December 23, 1939 and the couple had a daughter, Susan. He registered for the draft October 16, 1940, was inducted into the Army October 22, 1943 at Camp Blanding, Florida and joined Company C, 134th Infantry Regiment as a Rifleman from the 38th Replacement Battalion September 21, 1944 when the unit was in the vicinity of Nancy, France. Pvt Joseph J Kovach was killed in action by shell fragments September 27, 1944 near Manhoue, France. He is buried at Myrtle Hill Memorial Park, Tampa, Florida.
