Harvey Burham Langley, son of Orlando Woodson and Pearl Catherine (Day) Langley, was born March 4, 1919 in Cortland, Nebraska. He married Donna Ruth Wierman November 2, 1941 and the couple had a son, Charles Dennis. He registered for the draft October 16, 1940. He was a member of the Nebraska National Guard mobilized to Federal Service December 23, 1940 at Beatrice, Nebraska. He was a Squad Leader in Company C, 134th Infantry Regiment, and landed at Omaha Beach, Normandy France July 5, 1944. S/Sgt Harvey B Langley was killed in action July 15, 1944 in the vicinity of St Lo, France. He was awarded a Bronze Star Medal for heroic service during the battle in which he died. He is buried at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Pickrell, Nebraska.

Staff Sergeant Harvey B Langley, 20721971, Infantry, United States Army, for heroic service in connection with military operations against an enemy of the United States in the * * * , sector, Normandy, France, 15 July 1944. In the attack against Hill 122, Sergeant Langley, a squad leader, Company C, 134th Infantry, displayed exemplary leadership and courage. Under heavy concentrations of enemy fire of all types, he maintained constant control of his men, urged them on, and was himself so cool and aggressive as to prove an inspiration to the members of his squad. While leading his squad in the envelopment of an enemy machine gun position, he was killed by enemy artillery. The leadership, courage and aggressiveness of Sergeant Langley reflect credit upon his character as a soldier and upon the military service. Entered military service from Nebraska.
