Timothy James Leary, son of Frederick and Mary (Tivonen) Leary, was born December 28, 1911 in Newburyport, Massachusetts. He married Mildred Sylvia Rudenstein in 1938 and the couple had 2 children, a daughter Janice Louise and son Frederick Warren. He registered for the draft October 16, 1940. At the time he was living in Cambridge, Massachusetts, working for the Customs Bureau, and he held a reserve commission as 2nd Lieutenant, Infantry, in the Army. He joined Company A, 134th Infantry Regiment as a Platoon Leader from the 38th Replacement Battalion October 11, 1944 when the unit was in the vicinity of Fossieux, France. The morning of November 13, 1944, Company A advanced from Fossieux to Pevange, France where they met resistance before establishing defensive positions in the town. 1st Lt Timothy J Leary was seriously wounded during the fighting and died of his wounds that same day, November 13, 1944. He is buried at Saint Marys Cemetery, Bordentown, New Jersey.
