134th Infantry Regiment - Company D

Wilburn Ray Lewis, son of Oplis Malery and Myrtle (Coffey) Lewis, was born in Oklahoma on December 19, 1924. He registered for the draft December 28, 1942 when he was 18 years old and was inducted into the Army April 5, 1943 at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He joined Company D, 134th Infantry Regiment from the 38th Replacement Battalion November 26, 1944 when the unit was in the vicinity of Hilsprich, France and was promoted to Private First Class December 1, 1944. Pfc Wilburn R Lewis was seriously wounded in action December 13 in the vicinity of Habkirchen, Germany and died of his wounds the following day, December 14, 1944. He is buried at Fairlawn Cemetery, Comanche, Oklahoma.
