Oscar William Lloyd, son of Robert Oscar and Augusta
(Knox) Lloyd was born August 10, 1920 in Rockland, New York. He married Marion
Irene Lyden November 6, 1940 and the couple had a son, Robert James Lloyd. He
registered for the draft February 15, 1942 and was inducted into the Army
February 29, 1944 at Fort Dix, New Jersey. He joined Company G, 134th Infantry
Regiment as a Rifleman from the 38th Replacement Battalion on September 11, 1944
when the unit was in the vicinity of Flavigny, just south of Nancy, France. He
was promoted to Private First Class October 18, 1944. Pfc Oscar W Lloyd was
wounded in action by shell blast fragments November 11, 1944 in the vicinity of
Chateau Salins, France and died of his wounds November 18, 1944. He is buried at
Lorraine American Cemetery, Saint Avold, France.
