134th Infantry Regiment - Company G

Joseph Duncan Love, son of William Arthur and Oma (Peterson) Love, was born September 11, 1912 in Erwin, Tennessee. He registered for the draft September 22, 1941 and was inducted into the Army January 7, 1942 at Richmond, Virginia. He joined Company G, 134th Infantry Regiment as a Rifleman from the 86th Replacement Battalion July 19, 1944 when the unit was just north of St Lo, France. He was wounded in action by shell fragments July 31, 1944 in the vicinity of Torigini Sur Vire, France and returned to duty August 27, 1944. Pvt Joseph D Love was reported missing September 11 and later confirmed killed in action September 23, 1944 north of Nancy, France. He is buried at Lorraine American Cemetery, Saint Avold, France.
