Dean Lindsay Mair, son of George Allen and Annie Bennett (Barnes) Mair was born June 2, 1919 in Heber, Utah. He married Katherine Emma Pirraglio January 30, 1941 and the couple had 2 daughters, Faye and Ruth Ann. He registered for the draft October 16, 1940 and was inducted into the Army June 9, 1944 at Fort Douglas, Utah. He joined Company E, 134th Infantry Regiment as a Scout from the 14th Replacement Battalion December 21, 1944 while the unit was in the vicinity of Guebenhouse, south of Saarbrucken, France. He was wounded by an artillery blast December 31, 1944 in the vicinity of Lutrebois, Belgium, returned to action February 8, 1945, and was promoted to Private First Class when the unit was in the vicinity of Nirm, south of Randerath, Germany. Pfc Dean L Mair was killed in action March 30, 1945 by rifle fire on the outskirts of Buer, just east of Gladbeck, Germany while advancing into the town. He is buried at Heber City Cemetery, Heber City, Utah.
