Linwood P Martin, son of Fred Eugene and Mary Maloney (Sparks) Martin was born in Georgia April 12, 1922. He was a member of the Georgia National Guard and was inducted into the Army September 16, 1940 at Jackson, Georgia and joined Company L, 134th Infantry Regiment as a Squad Leader from the 38th Replacement Battalion August 28, 1944 while the unit was in the vicinity of Saint Florentin, France. Cpl Linwood P Martin was killed in action by enemy small arms fire November 17, 1944 in the vicinity of Morhange, France. He is buried at Oak Hill Cemetery, Griffin, Georgia.
