Clarence Warren Matney, son of George Frederick and Izora Bell (Razey) Matney, was born August 25 1906 in Miami County, Kansas. He married Helen Beatrice Rogers in 1928 and the couple had a daughter, Martha Aileen. He registered for the draft October 16, 1940 and was inducted into the Army August 24, 1942. He served in Headquarters Platoon, Company E, 134th Infantry Regiment and landed at Omaha Beach Normandy France July 5, 1944. Pfc Clarence W Matney was killed in action July 31, 1944 in the vicinity of Torigini Sur Vire, France. He is buried at Osawatomie Cemetery, Osawatomie, Kansas.
