134th Infantry Regiment - Company K

Julius Morrison, son of Hans Martin and Mary (Petersen) Morrison, was born September 8, 1916 in Wolbach, Nebraska. He registered for the draft October 16, 1940. At the time he was living in Grand Island, Nebraska and working at Morrison Sons Gas Station in Grand Island. He was inducted into the Army August 29, 1942 and joined Company K, 134th Infantry Regiment as a Light Mortar Crewman from the 48th Replacement Battalion August 10, 1944 when the unit was in the vicinity of Mortain, France. He suffered a gunshot to his arm November 11, 1944 during fighting in the vicinity of the Foret de Gremecey, France and returned to duty December 5, 1944. Pfc Julius Morrison was reported missing December 30, 1944 and was last seen when the Company was attacking the high ground northeast of Lutrebois, Belgium. He was later confirmed killed in action on that date. He is buried at Grand Island Cemetery, Grand Island, Nebraska.
