William Leon Morrison, son of George William and Joice Inez (Gochenauer) Morrison, was born December 11, 1914 in Barnitz, Pennsylvania. He married Thelma Elizabeth Reck in Leesburg, Virginia December 2, 1939 and the couple had a son, William James Morrison. He registered for the draft October 16, 1940 and was inducted into the Army November 1, 1943 at Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He joined Company L, 134th Infantry Regiment as a Light Machine Gunner from the 86th Replacement Battalion on July 21, 1944 when the unit was in the vicinity of St Lo, France. Pvt William L Morrison was killed in action July 30, 1944 in the vicinity of Torigini Sur Vire, France. He was buried at Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover, Pennsylvania.
