134th Infantry Regiment - Company I

Barton Walton Nelson, son of John David Boyd and Naomi (Hendrick) Nelson, was born February 1, 1925 in Mount Calm, Texas. He registered for the draft February 1, 1943 and was inducted into the Army February 28, 1944 at Camp Wolters, Texas. He joined Company I, 134th Infantry Regiment as a Rifleman from the 38th Replacement Battalion September 21, 1944 while the unit was in the vicinity of Agincourt, just north of Nancy, France. Pfc Barton W Nelson was killed in action January 5, 1945 while attacking the high ground and forest about half a mile north of Lutrebois, Belgium. He is buried at Mexia City Cemetery, Mexia, Texas.
