James W Nichols, son of Walter Clarence and Gladys Mae (Brock) Nichols, was born in Nebraska January 3, 1921. He married Hazel Silvers June 8, 1942 and the couple had 1 child, a daughter Joyce Elaine. He joined the Nebraska National Guard in 1939 and was mobilized to Federal Service December 23, 1940 at Omaha. He was a Platoon Sergeant in the Weapons Platoon, Company K, 134th Infantry Regiment and landed at Omaha Beach July 6, 1944. T/Sgt James W Nichols was killed in action July 18, 1944 in the vicinity of L'Emelie/St Lo, France. He is buried at Westlawn Hillcrest Memorial Park, Omaha, Nebraska.
