134th Infantry Regiment - Company A

Alexander Edward Pope, son of Ruben Terrell and Nannie Haile (McCall) Pope, was born July 1, 1918 in Millsap, Texas. He registered for the draft October 16, 1940. At the time he was working for the Millsap Public School Board. He was inducted into the Army May 27, 1944 at Camp Wolters, Texas and married Juanita Ellen Teubner October 20, 1944 while stationed there.

He departed for the ETO December 2, 1944, joined Company A, 134th Infantry Regiment from the 14th Replacement Battalion December 24, 1944 and served as a Rifleman. Pvt Alexander E Pope was killed in action January 2, 1945 in the vicinity of Lutrebois, Belgium during the Battle of the Bulge. He is buried at Fairview Cemetery, Millsap, Texas.
