Pfc Howard J Porter was a Messenger in Company B, 134th Infantry Regiment. He was seriously wounded in action about 10 - 15 miles north of Nancy, France on September 28, 1944. He was transferred to the 60th Field Hospital at Saint-Max, France and died of his wounds that same day. He is buried at Lorraine American Cemetery, Saint Avold, France.
