Jefferson Davis Potts, son of Thomas Wesley and Mary Jane (Willard) Potts, was born March 29, 1923 in Randolph County, North Carolina. He registered for the draft June 30, 1942, was inducted into the Army January 8, 1943 at Fort Croft, South Carolina, and served as a Rifleman in Company E, 134th Infantry Regiment. Pvt Jefferson D Potts was seriously wounded by shell fragments November 14 in the vicinity of Achain, France and died of his wounds the following day, November 15, 1944. He is buried at Oaklawn Cemetery, Asheboro, North Carolina.
