134th Infantry Regiment - Company K

Richard Royal Rhodes, son of George Harry and Carrie Matilda (Hemenway) Rhodes, was born June 18, 1924 in Painesville, Ohio. He registered for the draft June 30, 1942, was inducted into the Army June 17, 1943 at Cleveland, Ohio, and joined Company K, 134th Infantry Regiment from the 38th Replacement Battalion on September 24, 1944. He suffered trench foot November 15 and returned to duty December 6, 1944 after recuperating. He was seriously wounded by shrapnel January 6, 1945 in the vicinity of Lutrebois, Belgium and transferred to the 16th Field Hospital where he died from his wounds January 17, 1945. Pvt Richard R Rhodes is buried at Montville Cemetery, Montville, Ohio.
