Nicolas Moreno Rodriguez, son of Melicio and Monica (Moreno) Rodriguez, was born December 23, 1918 in Poteet, Texas. He registered for the draft October 17, 1940 and was inducted into the Army January 24, 1942 at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. He joined Company F, 134th Infantry Regiment from the 26th Infantry Division on December 16, 1944 and served as a Rifleman. Pvt Nicolas M Rodriguez was killed in action during the Battle of the Bulge by mortar fire on January 1, 1945 at a crossroads east of Remoifosse, Belgium while clearing a woods of the enemy. Originally buried at Hamm, Luxembourg, he was laid to final rest April 21, 1949 at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery, San Diego, California.
