134th Infantry Regiment - Company A

William John Savoren, son of Matthew and Antonia (Sedmak) Savoren, was born November 4, 1924 in Crested Butte, Colorado. He registered for the draft December 28, 1942. At that time he was living in Oakland and working at the Pacific Bridge Company in Alameda, California. He was inducted into the Army March 27, 1943 at Denver, Colorado and joined Company A, 134th Infantry Regiment from the 86th Replacement Battalion as a Rifleman on July 30, 1944. Pfc William J Savoren was killed in action January 2, 1945 in the vicinity of Marvie Belgium. Company A was holding the woods east of town when he was killed by small arms fire while attempting to bring in supplies. He is buried at Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery, Liege, Belgium and memorialized at Roselawn Cemetery, Pueblo, Colorado.
