134th Infantry Regiment - Company E

Joseph Shimoskie, Sr, son of Louis and Julia (Mishiek) Shimoskie, was born January 10, 1907 in Hellertown, Pennsylvania. He married Mary Loder and the couple had a son, Joseph Martin Shimoskie, born in 1936. He registered for the draft October 16, 1940. At the time he was living in Bath, Pennsylvania and working at Keystone Portland Cement Corp. He was inducted into the Army March 27, 1944 at New Cumberland, Pennsylvania. After training, he joined Company E, 134th Infantry Regiment from the 83rd Replacement Battalion on January 21, 1945 and served as a Rifleman. He was promoted to Private First Class on February 8, 1945. Pfc Joseph Shimoskie, Sr was killed in action March 28, 1945 in the vicinity of Gladbeck, Germany. He is buried at Netherlands American Cemetery, Margraten, Netherlands.
