134th Infantry Regiment - Company G

LeRoy Clarence Somers, son of Edward Wise and Lillian G (Matlack) Somers, was born October 9, 1921 in Pleasantville, New Jersey. The family moved to Pennsylvania the following year. He registered for the draft February 16, 1942. At the time he was living in Philadelphia and working at the Philadelphia Rubber Waste Company. He was inducted into the Army October 12, 1942 at Philadelphia. He joined Company G, 134th Infantry Regiment from the 26th Infantry Division on December 16, 1944 and served as a Rifleman. T/5 LeRoy C Somers was originally reported missing. It was later confirmed that he had been killed in action January 14, 1945 south of Bastogne, Belgium. He is buried at Luxembourg American Cemetery, Hamm, Luxembourg.
