Wesley Lloyd Stahlhut, son of Louis and Julia (Swenson) Stahlhut, was born April 23, 1917 in Nebraska City, Nebraska. He graduated from Nebraska City High School in 1935 and operated the Phillips 66 Gas Station at 8th and First Corso in Nebraska City prior to the war. He was a member of the Nebraska National Guard and was inducted into Federal Service December 23, 1940. He married Doris Faunce on February 8, 1941 at Benton, Arkansas while he was stationed at Camp Robinson. The couple had one child, a son, Roger Lee Stahlhut. S/Sgt Wesley L Stahlhut served as a Section Leader in the Weapons Platoon, Company A, 134th Infantry Regiment, 35th Infantry Division. He was seriously wounded in action July 15, 1944 during the battle for St Lo, France and died of his wounds that same day. He is buried at Wyuka Cemetery in Nebraska City, Nebraska.
