Ralph Starkey, son of Louis and Florence Starkey, was born December 21, 1913 in Ridgely, Maryland. He married Edith Morris and the couple had 4 children; Ralph Jr., Vivian, Barbara, and Robert. He registered for the draft October 16, 1940 and was inducted into the Army November 22, 1943 at Baltimore, Maryland. He joined Company B, 134th Infantry Regiment July 20, 1944 from the 86th Replacement Battalion and served as a Rifleman. He was killed in action September 19, 1944 during the Battle of Sugar Loaf and is commemorated on the 35th Infantry Division Memorial at Agincourt, France. Pvt Ralph Starkey is buried at Lorraine American Cemetery, Saint Avold, France.
