Alfred Joseph Tiso, son of Luigi and Maria (Bruno) Tiso, was born March 27, 1925 in Mount Vernon, New York. He registered for the draft on his 18th birthday, March 27, 1943 and was inducted into the Army on August 4, 1943. He served as a Rifleman in the Headquarters Platoon, Company I, 134th Infantry Regiment. Pvt Alfred J Tiso was killed by fragments of a mortar shell on August 4, 1944 in the vicinity of Vire, south of St Lo, France while advancing against the enemy through a heavy concentration of mortar fire. He is buried at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery, New Rochelle, New York.
