134th Infantry Regiment - Company I

Amil J Wotipka, son of Thomas Joseph and Sophia (Hruby) Wotipka, was born December 2, 1921 in Ceresco, Nebraska. He joined the Nebraska National Guard while attending the University of Nebraska Agricultural College and was mobilized to Federal Service December 23, 1940. He departed for the ETO in May 1944, billeted in Cornwall, England, and landed on Omaha Beach July 6, 1944. He was a Platoon Sergeant in Company I, 134th Infantry Regiment and was promoted from Staff Sergeant to Tech Sergeant August 9, 1944. T/Sgt Amil J Wotipka was killed in action September 20, 1944 during the Battle of Sugar Loaf at Agincourt, just north of Nancy, France. He is buried at Saint Francis Cemetery, Wahoo, Nebraska and is commemorated on the 35th Infantry Division Memorial at Agincourt.
