Russell Louis Ferguson was born September 2, 1923 in Flint, Michigan. He registered for the draft June 29, 1942 and was inducted into the Army in January 1943. He served in the 3rd Battalion, Company I, 137th Infantry Regiment, 35th Infantry Division. His military occupation specialty code (MOS) was 504 - Ammunition Handler. He was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge on August 1, 1944 and was wounded in action by artillery shell fragments in the vicinity of Mortain, France on August 10, 1944. Pfc Russell L Ferguson was discharged from the Army December 18, 1945. He passed away May 15, 2006 and is buried at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, Michigan.
