137th Infantry Regiment - Company L

Woodrow Wilson Gravenor, son of Sewell and Florence Evelyn (Payne) Gravenor, was born January 4, 1918 in Newark, Delaware. He registered for the draft October 16, 1940 and was inducted into the Army August 8, 1941 at Trenton, New Jersey. He joined Company L, 137th Infantry Regiment, 35th Infantry Division on December 24, 1944. He was seriously wounded in action December 28 while fighting in the Ardennes and died of his wounds the following day, December 29, 1944. Sergeant Woodrow W Gravenor is buried at Newark Cemetery, Newark, Delaware.
