137th Infantry Regiment, Companies E and F

Edgar Milburn Hovarter, son of John William and Alice Jane (Clark) Hovarter was born January 6, 1921 in Falcon, Arkansas. He married Hazel Helen Huggins December 3, 1939 and the couple had 2 children, a daughter Virginia and a son Arthur. He registered for the draft February 16, 1942 and was inducted into the Army March 17, 1944. He joined Company E, 137th Infantry Regiment as a Rifleman from the 71st Replacement Battalion October 3 when the unit was at Gremecey, France and transferred to Company F October 6, 1944. He was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge November 1 and promoted to Private First Class November 28, 1944. Pfc Edgar M Hovarter was seriously wounded December 17, 1944 in the vicinity of Frauenberg, Germany and died of his wounds that same day. He is buried at Falcon Cemetery, Falcon, Arkansas.
