Calvin Glenn Jennings, son of James Blaine and Katherine Loretta (Dolan) Jennings, was born May 11, 1925 in Sunburst, North Carolina. The family moved to Oregon a few months after his birth. He married Margaret Jean Fairbanks on June 6, 1943 in Linn, Oregon and the couple had a son, Calvin Glenn, Jr. He registered for the draft May 13, 1943 and enlisted in the Army August 17, 1943 at Portland Oregon. He joined Company C, 137th Infantry Regiment as a Messenger from the 41st Replacement Battalion on July 13, 1944 when the unit was at La Meauffe, France. Pvt Calvin G Jennings was killed in action July 18, 1944 by shell fragments in the vicinity of St Lo, France. He is buried at Normandy American Cemetery, Colleville-sur-Mer, France.
