Milton Douglas Jerde, son of Louis and Jennie (Olson) Jerde, was born September 16, 1921 in Marietta, Minnesota. He registered for the draft February 15, 1942 and was a member of Company L, 137th Infantry Regiment. He landed at Omaha Beach, Normandy France July 7, 1944 and was promoted to Staff Sergeant, July 21, 1944. S/Sgt Milton D Jerde was killed in action July 31, 1944 in the vicinity of Conde sir Vire, south of St Lo, France. He is buried at Normandy American Cemetery, Colleville-sur-Mer, France.
