Leo Rolland Jolicoeur, son of Thaddy and Rose Aimee (LaFrance) Jolicoeur, was born November 23, 1921 in Lewiston, Maine. He married Joan LeBlond April 18, 1942 and the couple had a daughter, Claire. He enlisted in the Army October 1, 1942 at Portland, Maine. He joined Company L, 137th Infantry Regiment as a Rifleman from the 86th Replacement Battalion July 17, 1944 when the unit was in the vicinity of St Lo, France and transferred to the Medical Detachment as a Medical Aid Man on July 30, 1944. Pvt Leo R Jolicoeur was reported missing August 13, 1944 in the vicinity of Mortain, France and was later confirmed killed in action on that date. He is buried at Brittany American Cemetery, Saint James, France.
