Grant Arnold Jones, son of Daniel Dudley and Daisy Eleanor (Huber) Jones, was born June 24, 1921 in Goodyear, Arizona and moved to Colorado in November 1927. He registered for the draft February 14, 1942 when he was 20 years old and working on his father's farm in Kline, Colorado. He was inducted into the Army August 25, 1942 at Pueblo, Colorado. He was an Ammunition Handler in Company A, 137th Infantry Regiment, landed at Omaha Beach, Normandy France July 7, 1944 and was promoted to Private First Class July 24, 1944. He was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge August 1, 1944. He was wounded by artillery shell blast fragments in the vicinity of Orleans, France on August 17 and returned to duty November 15, 1944 when the unit was at Marthille, France. Pfc Grant A Jones was initially reported missing January 1, 1945 in the vicinity of Livarchamps, Belgium and later confirmed killed in action on that date. He is buried at City of Mesa Cemetery, Mesa, Arizona.
