Robert Hans Killian, son of Hans Frank and Carrie Elizabeth (Schmidt) Killian, was born December 2, 1915 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He married Louise Ida Mand on March 12, 1938. He registered for the draft October 16, 1940. At the time he was living in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin and working at Frankfurth Hardware Company in Milwaukee. He entered service in August 1943, served as a Rifleman in Company E, 137th Infantry Regiment, and landed at Omaha Beach, Normandy France July 8, 1944. He was wounded by shell blast fragments July 12, 1944 in the vicinity of La Meauffe, France during the battle for St Lo. He was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge August 2, 1944, and returned to duty December 14, 1944. Pfc Robert H Killian was killed in action December 30, 1944 in the vicinity of Harlange, Luxembourg near the Luxembourg/Belgium border. He is buried at Valhalla Memorial Park, Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
