137th Infantry Regiment - Company C

Joseph F Lewis, son of Harrison Morton and Bessie (Reeser) Lewis, was born in 1922 in York, Pennsylvania. He was inducted into the Army December 19, 1941 at Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He joined Company C, 137th Infantry Regiment as a Rifleman from the 71st Replacement Battalion October 5, 1944 when the unit was in the vicinity of Pettoncourt, France. Pvt Joseph F Lewis was killed in action November 11, 1944 in the vicinity of Fonteny, France and is buried at Lorraine American Cemetery, Saint Avold, France.
