137th Infantry Regiment - Company F

Bernard J Lonczinski, son of Walter Edward and Josephine (Czarniecki) Lonczinski, was born December 25, 1919 in Hazleton, Pennsylvania. He was inducted into the Army September 11, 1943 at Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. He arrived in the ETO November 1, 1944 and joined Company F, 137th Infantry Regiment December 25, 1944 as a Scout when the unit was in the vicinity of Metz, France and was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge January 1, 1945. Pfc Bernard J Lonczinski was initially reported missing February 27, 1945 in the vicinity of Gerderath, Germany and was later confirmed killed in action on that date. He is buried at Saint John the Baptist Polish National Church Cemetery, Hazleton, Pennsylvania.
