Don Wilson Maddux, son of Cary Elmer and Lorna (Ater) Maddux, was born August 5, 1917 in Pickaway, Ohio. He married Ester Louise Furniss February 19, 1938 and the couple had a son, Dale Wilson Maddux. He registered for the draft October 16, 1940 and was inducted into the Army January 3, 1944 at Columbus, Ohio. He joined Company D, 137th Infantry Regiment from the 38th Replacement Battalion August 28, 1944 when the unit was in the vicinity of Montargis, France. Pvt Don W Maddux was killed in action September 13, 1944 in the vicinity of Flavigny-sur-Moselle, France. He is buried at Browns Chapel Cemetery, Clarksburg, Ohio.
