137th Infantry Regiment - Company E

Junior Harlas Martin, son of Morris Horatio and Molly (Kidwell) Martin, was born December 3, 1924 in Terry, West Virginia. He registered for the draft June 30, 1943 and was inducted into the Army October 14, 1943 at Huntington, West Virginia. He joined Company E, 137th Infantry Regiment as a Rifleman from the 86th Replacement Battalion July 20, 1944 while the unit was in the vicinity of St Lo, France. He was injured in action August 17, 1944 near Orleans, France and returned to duty September 6, 1944. Pvt Junior H Martin was killed in action October 6, 1944 in the vicinity of Gremecey, France. He is buried at Martin Graveyard, Raleigh County, West Virginia.
