Rex Gordon May, son of Edwin Percy and Gertrude Irma (Dapper) May was born July 26, 1917 in Saginaw, Michigan. He married Pauline Maxine Daugherty May 14, 1940 and the couple had 2 children. He joined Company A, 137th Infantry Regiment as a Rifleman from the 38th Replacement Battalion on September 18, 1944 while the unit was in the vicinity of Nancy, France. Pvt Rex G May was killed in action October 3, 1944 by artillery shell shrapnel in the vicinity of Pettoncourt, France. He is buried at Lorraine American Cemetery, Saint Avold, France.
